In 1944 Vincente Minnelli debuted Meet Me in St. Louis, a charming turn of the century spectacle of ruffles, lace, wistfulness, opulence, hope, marriage, love and family.  This enchanting gem of a musical sweeps you away from modern life, to revel in a ruffled fantasy of beautiful, simpler times.  At the heart of the movie pulses the promise of the upcoming 1904 St. Louis World's Fair, which was an elaborate, utopian celebration of a glorious past and a hopeful glimpse into the possibilities of the future.  Just like a wedding...

While gathering images for this style board, I discovered the magical, "intensely feminine" clothing line of Australian fashion designer Alannah Hill.  Her romantic sensibility was the perfect bridge between the literal translation of the 1900's inspired movie costumes, and modern-day fashion.  I am enamored with her designs and encourage you to take a peek at her amazing work for more wedding inspiration!

Take a single step into a chic, boutique hotel and you immediately feel your every day experiences melt into the life of luxury.  The Viceroy Santa Monica is easily one of the most lavish boutique hotel destinations, with it's exhilarating palette of deep green, bold black and pale charcoal, paired with masculine mod and delicate damask patterns.  Transport your wedding guests to an indulgent destination, a glamorous departure from the ordinary that will live in their minds and hearts long after your wedding day.

Now that I have had the pleasure of documenting many unique and personalized events, I believe the very best wedding inspiration is drawn from the beauty of every day life.  In my ongoing series of Style Boards (which will be posted on the 2nd Monday of each month) I will reveal the simplest details which can easily become the foundation for an entire wedding theme.

When I was growing up, there was always a pitcher of fresh brewed sweet tea in the fridge. We had iced tea with every meal and after every sweltering game of kickball in the front yard.  Everyone who came to visit on those lazy summer days would automatically be handed a chilled glass of sweet tea as they sat down on the front porch to chat.  For me, there will always be a certain comfort in tea, and it seemed fitting that my first Style Board would be based on the refreshing nature of sweet tea and the happy summertime feelings it inspires.
