Katie and Mike spent hours sifting through countless photographs to find the perfect reflection of their personalities at every age.  Then at their wedding reception, each table number was illustrated with the hand-selected images of their quirky, spunky selves at each age.  It was an adorable DIY wedding detail that made finding seating a hilarious, sweet and nostalgic journey for all of their guests.

Just like the Style Boards and Real Couple series, Inspired Ideas is a new monthly blog series to warm your happy heart and inspire unique, love-centered wedding day details and events.  On the 4th Monday of each month I will feature a lovely detail or event from a recent wedding that made me laugh, cry or just generally want to get married all over again so I can use my couple's inspired idea.

This month the Inspired Idea I'm in love with is the parent dance.  This idea has been on my mind for a while, ever since Chris and Karli's spectacular winter wedding and shared parent dance.  After Karli danced with her father, and Chris danced with his mother - they invited Karli's mother and Chris' father out so all three married couples could all share a dance together.  It was made all the more emotional by the song they chose, which was Eva Cassidy's lilting and heart-wrenching version of "Over the Rainbow".  It was such a tender moment watching newlywed Chris and Karli dance side by side with their parents...I could barely see the view finder through my tears.

Then this past May, at Tracy and Chase's wedding, I saw another variation of a parent dance that I absolutely adored.  Tracy and Chase asked the DJ to play a song for each of their parents, which just so happened to be their very own first dance songs from their own weddings over 20 years ago.  They each had the floor entirely to themselves for the length of their song and loved every sweet minute of it!
